Japanese food is always my favorite food. I always make a time to visit Japanese restaurant, especially the new ones. One of them is Momiji Japanese Restaurant. It is located on the second floor of Aston Priorty Simatupang Hotel & Conference Center. Momiji Japanesse Restaurant is quite a brand new Japanese restaurant as it was opened on 4 April 2016.

Momiji is opened to satisfy the need of the guests from Japan and the fans of “anything from Japan” to eat original and genuine Japanese food, especially in the area of Aston Priority Simatupang and around TB. Simatupang street.

As I walked up to the second level near the lobby of the Aston Priority Simatupang Hotel, suddenly the atmosphere of the hotel changes to a modern Japanese room. Yes, the combination of modern style and original Japanese design fulfill the atmosphere of Momiji Japanese Restaurant. I easily notice the unique things from the restaurant. The lamps, the plant and tree patterns on the wall, the partition between the spaces, the contrast color of black and white with a touch of wood texture.

As I sit down on the table at Momiji, another unique thing captures my eyes. The servers wear Japanese Style Clothes like Kimono. And hey, the restaurant folds the napkins in such a way that they look like Kimono too. Very cute and creative!

I heard that the best food in Momiji Restaurant are Ozen, Soup, Salad, Agemono (deep-fried dishes), Edomae Unagi (eel prepared in traditional way), Nabemono (hot pot dishes), Don Buri (rice bowl dishes), Ochasuke (rice in green tea with some salty toppings or pickled vegetables), Onigiri (rice balls), Tempura (battered and deep fried seafood and vegetables), Teppanyaki (grilled dishes), and Japanese desserts.
The restaurant also has its Bento Promotion that includes Wakadori rice set, Teriyaki, Beef Yakiniku, Shake Amiyaki, Unagi Kabayaki, Kushayaki, Miso Soup and fresh fruits.
How I wish I could eat all of them! But don't worry! I will try to eat their "best among the best" selections in the restaurant, ok!

OZEN

So I select Momiji's Ozen, the set menu in Japanese style. Which food are a part of Ozen? Ozen has Appetizer, Salad, Sashimi, Tempura, Main Course with Rice, Miso Soup and Dessert. Wow! What a set! Feeling so yummy already hahaha!
In the Main Course, we can choose Grilled Salmon, Grilled Gindara, Grilled Unagi, Grilled Beef or Grilled Chicken. The unique thing about the Main Course is that each dish has different sauce. Wow! Sounds yummy! Good for an adventurer like me. LOL!

Ozen: Appetizer

Ozen: Sashimi

Ozen: Tempura

Ozen: Grilled Chicken, Grilled Gindara, Grilled Beef, Grilled Salmon

Ozen: Ogura Ice Cream, Sliced Fruits

Overall, the dishes are delicious. The Sashimi is fresh. The Main Course are very tasty, especially their sauces that make the difference. And the Ogura Ice Cream is taken as the good finishing touch after all the food I eat :-))
The portion is really enough for my belly, not so huge and not so small. And surprisingly, for a category of a restaurant in a 4 stars hotel, the price of the dishes in Momiji Japanese Restauran is quite affordable. Very nice!

I will be back to Momiji Japanese Restaurant for sure. Because there are other food there that I haven't tasted :-D

Have a great lunch, all!

Lunch at Patio Venue - Trattoria and Pizzeria - Jakarta

PATIO VENUE - TRATTORIA & PIZZERIA
Jl. Wijaya XIII / No. 45
Kebayoran Baru
South Jakarta
Tel: +6221-7241362 – 63
Email: reservation@patiojakarta.com

I am a romantic girl, so I always search for cozy and comfortable place to sit and have a romance with someone special or even just with myself. I guess there is nothing wrong about having a romantic moment with myself.
One of the searches takes me to Patio Venue - Trattoria & Pizzeria, an Italian Restaurant in Jakarta. But wait… Italian? Why the word Italian sounds more yummy than romantic? Okay, let's see what happens to me. LOL!

Patio Venue - Trattoria & Pizzeria is located in a neighborhood where there are more houses than business buildings. It is a bit far away from all the noises, not in a crowded place. The location itself tells me that Patio is calm and relax place.

When I walk into Patio, I am greeted by so many green plants and trees. Suddenly, I am falling in love with the garden around the restaurant. So cool, fresh and peaceful. This is a unique thing, because I rarely see a restaurant in Jakarta that is surrounded by a beautiful garden like this.

Inside Patio, I can see that the interior design is very rich and classic. Some warm colors take a bigger part in the restaurant, and big sofas give comfortable atmosphere like the one in our home. A few of antiques give an elegant touch to the area. The ambience is awesome and beautiful. I think it is a perfect place to have both lunch and romantic dinner.

As I sit in Patio near the outside garden, I hear jazz and instrumental music around the restaurant. The dimmed lights over my head add more romantic ambience. Yes, the restaurant is a very perfect place for a romantic dinner.

In one corner of the restaurant, I can see clearly a representation of an Italian authenticity. It is the oven to cook Italian pizza! Wow! Suddenly I imagine of a thin crisp bread inside the oven that creates the aroma of pizza. Yum! Yum! Yum!

Patio has private rooms for special meetings and occasions. The private rooms have fish ponds on the outside. This is awesome!

Okay, enough for that! Let’s eat!

When I want to make an order, the Waiter suggests me to take the Lunch Set Menu that has a complete package to satisfy my hunger. Well, I appreciate the suggestion, and that is what I take. Let's go and get them!

Starter: Tomato Soup

I choose Tomato Soup because its red color always attracts my eyes :-D
The taste of the Tomato Soup is balance between its sourness and its sweetness. The texture of the Tomato Soup is rich and thick. A good one to start everything!

Main Course: Grilled Barramundi

I pick Grilled Barramundi because I am a big fan of fish and seafood.
The Grilled Barramundi is delicious. I can taste that the fish is fresh. It is cooked perfectly. The Potato with Spinach add more flavor to the Barramundi. Yum!

Dessert: Creme Caramel, Panna Cotta & Sorbet

To end the lunch, I get a very special treatment! I get the chance to taste all the desserts! Woho! This is great!
My favorite ones are the Sorbet for its sourness, and the Creme Caramel for its bitter-sweetness and the richness of its texture. The taste of the Panna Cotta is quite light, perfect for those people who like light sweet dessert.

When I look outside at the garden, I see something cute there. Hey! Patio has a red bird! It is a Red Cockatoo! The bird is friendly. She keeps looking at my camera as I take a lot of pictures of her. She knows that she is the center of attention and she knows how to pose. She might be a beautiful model in her previous life. Hahaha!

I end the lunch with a peaceful feeling. I feel a little bit romantic too. So the next time I want to have a wonderful romantic lunch or dinner with a back to nature atmosphere, I will definitely go to Patio Venue - Trattoria & Pizzeria. Yes, I will be back.

Have an awesome lunch, folks!

HOSHINO TEA TIME

BTPN Tower
Jl. Dr. Ide Anak Agung Gde Agung Kav. 55 – 56
Jakarta 12950
Mega Kuningan
South Jakarta

I have heard about the art of making tea, but I have never experienced it in real. I am so glad that I have the chance to do it at Hoshino Tea, a place where I can experience the tea from Taiwan called Ten Ren. Hoshino Tea itself is the first Taiwanese Tea House in Jakarta.

Inside Hoshino Tea, I can hear the sound of Taiwanese music. I also feel like sitting in a Taiwanese house. I don’t feel like living in Jakarta. LOL!

They have private rooms too.

Hoshino Tea sells tens of tea. Name what you like. They have them!

The tea sets are very unique. They are made in any shapes. Very interesting.

In Hoshino Tea, I can choose their best tea selections, such as Jasmine Green Tea, Oolong Tea, and Green Tea.

Hoshino Tea also serves some good food, snack and desserts. Yum!

Their best food are Lu Wei Beef Set, Lu Wei Chicken Set, Dumpling, Popcorn Chicken, Fried Mantouw, Fried Chicken Wing, etc.

TEA CEREMONY - The Art of Making Tea

The Tea Ceremony is held because drinking tea is taken as a way of socializing, an art, and a part of culture. Some people conduct the Tea Ceremony to show their appreciation and adoration to their good life. The Tea Ceremony is also a way to make sure that the tea is treated properly, so the people can enjoy the best taste of the tea. In the Tea Ceremony, they use unique and ethnic Tea Tray, Tea Pot Set, Tea Maker, etc. So traditional! I love it!
The duration to conduct the Tea Ceremony is around 1 to 2 hours.

You can watch my interview about the Art of Making Tea in Hoshino Tea Time here (in Indonesian Language):

Enjoy your tea, everybody!

The Lobby Restaurant and Lounge - Mercure Jakarta Sabang

THE LOBBY RESTAURANT AND LOUNGE

Gambir
Central Jakarta

To visit a restaurant in strategic place where I can find my happiness (which is food, food and food!) is such a good day. One of the good days happens when I came to Mercure Jakarta Sabang. The hotel is managed by Accor Group. It is a 4-stars international hotel. The location of the Mercure Jakarta Sabang is on Jl. Agus Salim, just side by side with the Sabang area.

First, let me tell you about the Sabang area. It is not a new place for me. It is a place where I can find a different view of Jakarta and a place where I can satisfy my culinary hunger. It is located just behind Thamrin Street that is connected with Sudirman Street. Yes, it is right in the heart of Jakarta. The area is very strategic for business and foreign tourists as it has many access to business centers (like banks, office buildings, government offices and the US Embassy) and tourist destinations (like the National Monument and the Gambir Train Station). It is not a surprise if there are many hotels in the area.

Secondly, let’s have lunch, OK!

I come to the restaurant in the Mercure Jakarta Sabang. The name of the restaurant is the Lobby Restaurant and Lounge. The interior of the restaurant is very homy and warm. I can feel that they combine modern design with the touch of Betawi (the ethnic group from Jakarta) and the old Jakarta. The restaurant has its own lounge area and its own restaurant area. The restaurant is also next to a lagoon style swimming pool with garden view.

The Lobby Restaurant and Lounge serves both traditional and international food menu. The restaurant also serves coffee, tea, range of wines, cocktails and mocktails.

When I visit the restaurant, the Lobby Restaurant and Lounge has fish promotion. All kind of fishes are cooked with traditional recipes that require various special spices from Indonesia. The fish dishes are delicious, especially when they are combined with Indonesian spices. This gives a joy to the culinary exploration. Yummy!

Among the food that the Lobby Restaurant and Lounge in Mercure Jakarta Sabang has, these are the ones that you can choose:

  • Ikan Tuna Asam Padeh: the Tuna fish is cooked with spices from Padang, West Sumatra.
  • Pepes Nila dari Jawa Barat: the steamed fish is mixed with spices from West Java and it is wrapped with banana leaf. This cooking technique adds some aromas and flavors to the fish.
  • Makarel Dabu-dabu: the Mackerel Fish is combined with raw chili from Manado, North Sulawesi. The raw chili is made from chopped red chili peppers, bird's eye chili, shallots, red and green tomatoes, and a pinch of salt and sugar. All of the chopped and diced spices are mixed with fresh lemon juice.
  • Gurame Sambal Mangga: the Carp fish is cooked with the chili made from Mango.

Don't forget to try their drinks and desserts! They are so delicious for your afternoon chit chat with your friends!

Enjoy your meal, everybody!
